The Care and Feeding of Your Himalayan Salt Tableware

Picture
Serving food on a solid Himalayan salt plate or bowl can be a great way to improve the taste of food while providing an innovative presentation experience. Your Himalayan salt product has been carved from a single salt rock that was once Jurassic age seawater. It comes from the salt mine at Khewra, Pakistan. Salt has been continuously mined at Khewra since 320 BC following its discovery by Alexander's troops. To ensure maximum life and satisfaction with your Himalayan salt tableware please take a few moments to read this guide.

Use: Salt tableware can be warmed or cooled but should not be exposed to extreme high or low temperatures. Do not heat above 150 or below 36 degrees Fahrenheit. Because solid Himalayan salt is so dense it is important to provide sufficient time to cool or heat your plate or bowl. Cooling will take about six hours in the refridgerator  (best overnight). Heating will require about one hour in a 150-degree oven.

Care and cleaning: After use clean with a damp washcloth to remove any food or debris. Never put the product under running water for an extended period. Never use a dishwasher!

Some suggestions for serving:  Himalayan salt tableware adds a unique flair for serving. Be creative with your salt plate or bowl! Foods with high moisture content will produce a saltier taste than dry foods.

More suggestions: Consider serving a variety of dishes on your Himalayan tableware. Here are a few but there are infinite possibilities:
  • Cold dips (guacamole, salsa, bruschetta, onion)
  • Dairy (unsalted butter, cheese, sour cream)
  • Fish (ceviche, sushi, sashimi)
  • Meats (steak tips, pork, Sheppard's pie)
  • Warm dips (fondues, chili cheese, artichoke)
  • Vegetables and salads (any!)
  • Fruits (apple, orange, peach, pear slices)
  • Desserts (ice cream, cakes, pies, puddings)
Terms of purchase: We make every effort to provide only superior quality Himalayan salt tableware.
